In late 2009 this major work, formerly kept in the US, has been reunited with the other two paintings in this allegorical series, painted around 1635 and kept at the Château de Fontainebleau. Cybele and the Seasons, or the Allegory of the Earth, and Apollo and Mercury and the Allegory of the Air.
This prestigious acquisition was made possible through the support of Crédit Agricole Brie-Picardie, Oxymétal, Redex and Aurignac Finance ; the French Ministry of Culture and Communication’s heritage funds provided the outstanding amount to complete the project.
