The Grand Parterre

Designed by gardener to Louis XIV, André Le Nôtre, the Grand Parterre is now the largest parterre, or formal garden, in Europe. With its open landscaping and ordered and symmetrical style, it is typical of French-style gardens. Adorned with ponds and fountains, this was a garden reserved for courtiers to promenade through.
