Historical re-enactments

Napoleon I and Marie-Louise at Fontainebleau postponed until 2021

Due to the current health crisis, the “Napoleon I and Marie-Louise at Fontainebleau” historical re-enactments, originally scheduled for April, will be postponed until 2021. The date will be announced at a later date.

In 2021, come and meet Napoleon I at the château de Fontainebleau!

The Emperor, Empress and their court will travel to Fontainebleau. Scenes from the life of the imperial couple, theatrical interludes, military reviews and taking up arms will be on the agenda for these days. There will be close to 300 passionate re-enactors, dressed in period costumes, inside the château. A camp will be set up in the English Garden.

Tickets available soon!

A hundred re-enactors will be strolling about the castle. Their days will be peppered with theatrical sketches and musical interludes. Mini-concerts will also be performed at this event. You will be able to immerse yourself in the music of the Imperial court.

A military bivouac for 200 people will be set up in the English Garden. Soldiers will be grouped into platoons and battalions to conduct manoeuvres throughout the day. The Emperor will review his troops in the Main Courtyard. This small garrison is made up of grenadiers and fighters of the Imperial Guard, as well as line and light infantry soldiers. Soldiers’ lives will be punctuated by military manoeuvres (soldier school, platoon school, battalion school), guards, parades for official ceremonies, as well as daily chores and moments of fun and relaxation.

This workshop is a strategy game based on one of the great military successes of Napoleon’s youth: the Siege of Toulon. The activity is based on the Toulon relief map, commemorating the victory that enabled Bonaparte’s troops to take the city back from the English. The children play the role of the attackers, alongside Napoleon in this game of military strategy.

Suitable for children 8 to 12 years old
Duration : 1½ hours

Unique dramatised tours of the Petits Appartements allow visitors to discover behind the scenes of History and to immerse themselves in the private life of the imperial couple, guided by a servant. Privileged witnesses, servants share the daily life, the states of mind and sometimes the secrets of Napoleon and Marie-Louise. They have left writings that are valuable resources and that lift the veil on a seemingly impenetrable myth. The imperial couple becomes closer, more alive.
