Some spaces may close early
It is recommended to allow 2 hours for a complete self-guided tour of the château.
Entry to the courtyards and gardens is free and they are open every day.
- From November to February: 9am-5pm (last admission 4pm)
- In March, April and October: 9am-6pm (last admission 5pm)
- From May to September: 9am-7pm (last admission 6pm)
The Diana Garden and the English Garden may close early.
In the event of bad weather or for reasons beyond our control, the gardens may be closed.
The park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Tickets
Tickets include admission to the Grands Appartements and the Napoleon I Museum.

Emperess’ Museum
- Price: €3, in addition to the admission fee, including HistoPad, from 12 years and over.

Guided tours
Visitors must pay the admission fee for all guided tours. Visitors purchasing guided tours pay a reduced admission fee. People qualifying for free admission only pay the price of the tour.
Tour lasting 30 minutes to one hour:
- Full price: €5
- Reduced price: €3
Tour lasting 90 minutes:
- Full price: €7
- Reduced price: €5
Free admission and reductions
Admission to the château de Fontainebleau is free:
- on the first Sunday of each month, except July and August;
- during certain national events: Museum Night, Art History Festival, European Heritage Days. Non-exhaustive list, depending on government policy.
The following groups are eligible for free admission to the Grands Appartements tour, on presentation of the relevant ID:
- under 18s
- long-term EU residents of any nationality, aged 18 to 26;
- people with disabilities and war veterans (and their carer/friend);
- those receiving unemployment benefit, minimum pension payments, single parent benefit, or similar welfare payments;
- Pass Education holders;
- university and art school students (Ecole du Louvre, Institut National du Patrimoine, Ecole nationale des Chartes);
- public museum scientific and research staff, Ministry of Culture and INHA (Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art) staff
- history of art, fine arts, architecture and archaeology teachers;
- journalists with a valid press pass;
- conference speakers and tour guides;
- ICOM and ICOMOS members;
- coach drivers accompanying groups;
- members of the Association des Amis du château de Fontainebleau (SAMCF);
- holders of the Balad’Pass 77 issued by Seine-et-Marne Attractivité, accompanied by an adult paying the full admission price;
- staff from tourist information offices and visitor centres, Departmental Tourism Committees, Regional Tourism Committees and Atout France.
Reduced-price tickets are available for the Grands Appartements tour for the following groups, on presentation of the relevant valid ID:
- large families;
- non-EU nationals who are long-term residents in the EU aged 18 to 25;
- visitors paying admission fees with holiday vouchers, individually or as a group;
- RMN loyalty card holders;
- visitors eligible for special offers for cultural institutions;
- Paris-Visite train ticket holders;
- France-Montgolfières hot-air balloon ticket holders, departing from the château de Fontainebleau;
- "Les Paris Plus" Pass holders;
- Members of Societies of Friends recognised by the RMN;
- Ministry of the Interior officials, their family and retired officials.
- Exemptions and reduced-price admission for the cultural offer at the château
- The following groups are eligible for free admission to cultural institutions for individuals, on presentation of the relevant ID:
- Children under 4.
