He visited the castle many times in the year 1830, then 1841 and 1846. This work brings together three eras of the Ch\u00e2teau de Fontainebleau. Firstly, Fran\u00e7ois Ist: on the right, Delacroix reproduces two ornaments taken from the d\u00e9cor of the famous Rosso gallery. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-397e72b5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"397e72b5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-no\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-47f7c416\" data-id=\"47f7c416\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12e270f3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"12e270f3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>You can recognise the crescent moon of the \u2018L\u2019Incendie de Catane\u2019 and the Putti musicians standing against an oval medallion below the fresco of the Sacrifice. Next to these ornaments is a perspective view of the beamed ceiling and joists belonging to the Theagenes and Chariclea Cabinet painted in the reign of Henry IV. Delacroix imitates the beam\u2019s painted design by Ambroise Dubois and Jean d&apos;Hoey. This style gave a Flemish influenced nuance to the ornamental repertoire of the First School of Fontainebleau. In portrait, Delacroix copied a panel of panelling from Anne of Austria&apos;s room in the Papal Apartment. This priceless piece of arabesques and scroll work was designed by Charles Errard between 1655 and 1660. So the Romantic artist&apos;s curiosity for the Ch\u00e2teau de Fontainebleau spanned from the first Renaissance d\u00e9cor to the works of the Grand Si\u00e8cle. The date written on the picture was \u2018Sunday 28th March\u2019 and indicates a visit that took place in either in 1841 or 1846 when the painter was commissioned to decorate the ceilings of the Palais-Bourbon and Luxembourg libraries.
