The principal remits of this section of the Department of Heritage and Collections are:
- Information about the château and its collections, through document management for the collections and the research library.
- Preserving the memory of the establishment’s activity, through archive management and processing.
- Surveying and managing heritage libraries.
- Supporting research via the dissemination of information, providing access to the archives and communication about the archives
As part of the renovation masterplan for the château, work is ongoing to create the best possible workspaces, storage spaces and public consultation spaces.
The new premises will include a spacious and light reading room, overlooking the Cour d’honneur. As it was relocated to temporary premises in 2018, the library is currently closed to the public, until the CRES has been reintegrated in the new renovated spaces.
Nevertheless, we are responding to requests for information and research remotely:
Work on a document portal to enable federated searches of the works, the photo library, the libraries and archives is ongoing. We are currently working on the data architecture. The FOLIA portal (Fontainebleau œuvres Livres Images Archives) will be accessible from this page.
