Go to the Château de Fontainebleau for the historical re-enactments

By car

From Paris, take the A6 (Porte d’Orléans or Porte d’Italie) to the Fontainebleau exit.

Take the direction of Fontainebleau and then follow the signs for “château”.

Then head to the Place d’Armes.

By train

CAREFUL  

On Saturday 20 all day and Sunday 21 until 13:15, there will be no direct Transilien R between Paris and Fontainebleau due to works by Ile-de-France Mobilités.

If you usually come from Paris by public transport, we recommend several options:

  • Enjoy a weekend in the land of Fontainebleau!

When you arrive in Fontainebleau on Friday evening, you will be able to enjoy a full weekend and a real change of scenery! On one of the days, come and live a rich experience at the castle and immerse yourself in historical re-enactments to come and say goodbye to Napoleon, 210 years later. On the second day of the weekend, take a walk in the Fontainebleau region: forest, villages of character… Find all the cultural or rejuvenating activities near the castle right here.

  • Carpool

If you prefer to come to the Château de Fontainebleau on a single day for the historical re-enactments, consider carpooling! Many online platforms will allow you to get closer to other people going down the same road as you.

According to information provided by Ile-de-France Mobilités, direct traffic between Paris and Fontainebleau should be restored from Sunday around 1:15 pm. You should then be able to access the Château de Fontainebleau or go back to Paris as usual: 

Take the train at Paris Gare de Lyon (main lines) in the direction of Montargis, Montereau, or Laroche-Migennes, get off at Fontainebleau-Avon station. Or, in the other direction, take the train at Fontainebleau-Avon towards Paris Gare de Lyon.

The chateau

The chateau is open every day except Tuesday, January 1st, May 1st and December 25th.

From October to March: 9.30 am to 5 pm (last access at 4.15 pm).

From April to September: 9.30 am to 6 pm (last access at 5.15 pm).

The park and gardens are open, under the usual conditions, free of charge.

The restaurant is open every day for lunch (in winter, exceptionally closed on Tuesdays).
