A new display case in the Galerie des Fastes
Following on from the Festival de l’Histoire de l’Art at the beginning of June, dedicated to the theme of Sports, the château is strengthening its Olympic roots with an open-air exhibition entitled “Les sports sont rois à Fontainebleau” (“Sports are kings in Fontainebleau”), displaying large-scale photographs on the gates of the Jardin de Diane, depicting representations of Sporting Body in connection with the château’s decorations, paintings and sculptures.
The display in the Galerie des Fastes of an 18th-century Jeu de Paume racket and a ball signed and autographed by Robert Fahey, the Australian player who became world champion with it in 2008, is a reminder that the Château is home to the only remaining royal Jeu de Paume hall in France.
